TRACK 4 SUMS IT UP!

When the John Eastwood Memorial Fund was first set up - we didn't imagine the offers of help, support and fund raising ideas.  It's so hard to thank everyone that attended and even harder to get everyone's picture up on here - but if you were there....and you have a picture - email it to Site Admin and I will do my best to get you on in the very near future.  More pictures from these events are in the "Events Gallery" one page below this one in the menu to the left.

Charity Auction Night - Viva Tequila!
Wow, what a night this one was!! Steve (the owner of Viva Tequila) has been a massive supporter of ours since day one and came up with a fantastic night for us.

He effectively gave us the restaurant for a night, we had two singers to entertain us, a huge raffle, Steve's brilliant "Stand Up/Sit Down Bingo" and the pinnacle of our evening was a charity auction, with everything from signed football shirts, to signed Arctic Monkey CD's, donations from Damon Hill, Clinton Woods and a whole host of other unbelievable items.  Our guests did us proud by raising a fantastic amount of money.  Hats off to Steve though - he didn't take a cut, he didn't make a penny, his staff worked for free and he deserves every ounce of thanks we can give him.

Katie Smith's Fancy Dress Ball
High praise for Katie, she did her bit and organised a fantastic fancy dress party for her friends and school mates.  The outfits were excellent, everyone had a great time and once more - we raised good money for Eastie's Memorial Fund.

With only bits of help from us oldies on the night, Katie pulled off a magical night and we were all so proud of how she did it and big thanks to "DJ D" for providing the music too.

Fancy Dress At Eckington Barn
Oh blimey, what a night this was (from what I can remember!)  Some serious planning, organising and ticket selling took place, the outfits were brilliant, our resident Redcoat "Brother Karl" gave his time for nothing and put a blinding karaoke on for us.

I  did some stand up adult comedy and a bit of falling down too, we had raffles, a brilliant buffet provided by Phil and Anita and really the fund raising part of this event was a side issue - we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who had been with us all year on all the other projects.  Loads of photos still to be put up on here yet - so keep checking back!  If you went and you want a DVD of the event and you have a broad mind (lots of adult humour and a bit of a full monty) email Site Admin for details (price is £5 + P&P) and will be available to buy on here soon enough....yeah we are going to have a shop!!!!

The Lincoln 10km Road Race
Well this was our first attempt at a race and we all did great.  Plenty of sponsorship, lovely course to run and with Julie and Dan to run with, it was a good way to make money for the fund.
We will be back again next year, Dan and myself are going in fancy dress.....so watch this space!!!!!

The Sheffield Half Marathon
I did this one on my own and I had a great time, once again the support from everybody was immense, makes me so proud to run with Eastie's picture on my back, a big personal success for me too, who'd have thought I'd have run a half marathon eh?  Well if I get the news I want at the end of this month - it will be a full marathon in April down in London - if not......a full marathon 2 weeks later will have to do.
Mad as fish us runners!

The Barn Dance December 2007

Another stirling effort from everyone involved.  Held in Killamarsh, we had a live barn dance band, a hog roast with pork sandwiches, lots of drinking, stand up sit down bingo, a raffle and the pinnacle was those pictured having their heads shaved.  Geoff Spurr, Rick Tilney and "the bearded assassin" Doug Bevan - had a hair raising experience with local barber Wayne Hodson who shaved the day with the various hair styles.  Another great event which raised £1200 + for the fund - a running total will soon be seen on the homepage of this website.

This picture of Phil Smith sums up all our charity efforts really - having a good time, remembering young John, raising money and having a barrel load of beer too!

Here's to another successful year of fundraising in 2008

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
